Our Project

In Congo, young girls in the war-torn nation are the most vulnerable members of the Congolese society. They have lost their families, their homes and have become street wanderers. Les enfants de la rue (children of the street) have no access to food, education, medical care or shelter, and are subjected to sexual violence and exploitation, many die at a young age.

CAWEL's main goal is the provide Les enfants de la rue with a way to break the cycle. We are planning to build an orphanage, school, and health center for Congolese girls aged 6-9, with an enrolment capacity of 600 girls. This will provide a path to a better life of empowerment and leadership.

  • The orphanage will be built in Nsele, a city located at 19 km from the capital city of Kinshasa, where it is quieter and peaceful
  • CAWEL has a local team of 100 women, local business owners, professionals, teachers, doctors and engineers to help build and run the school
